chair painting

remember these chairs?

It's time to paint them.

I'm done with the bright blue. it was fun for a while, but the bright blue just doesn't work for me anymore.

I want to paint them a really pretty, creamy white. This sounds boring, but I love white. So simple and classic and it will be a nice contrast to our dark carpet.

I think that someday, I would like to paint them each a different color.

I need some furniture-painting-advice. I have had some people tell me to sand and some people tell me that as long as I primer it, sanding isn't necessary. Have any of you painted furniture? please tell me what you would do (I will give you a cup cake if you do).

Positive

Lately, I feel like I have been more and more negative. Negative about going to work at 7:30 AM, applying for grad school (college of Social Work!! Cross your fingers for me!), going to school, applying for graduation, etc. Just stress, more stress, worry, and frustration. I decided that I really need to help myself out by thinking about some positive things going on around me. So, here is a list of "positives" in my life:

1. I love that a little girl at work told me I should be a girl mummy with a bow on my head for Halloween
2. I love, love, love our little basement apartment that doesn't feel like a basement because of it's big windows.
3. I like the fact that I didn't have the right sized brownie pan to make brownies... so I made them cupcakes instead. We'll see how they turn out soon enough.
4. TJ MAxx. how about a table cloth for $7.00?? yup.
5. Another girl told me to be a star fish for halloween
6. Halloween is coming!!
7. Utah football
8. Steven does the dishes pretty much every day. bless his soul.
9. mmmm it's almost soup season! I am going to make Butternut Squash soup, Zucchini Soup, Chili, Potato soup... pretty much everything (steven doesn't like soup, so I'm inviting anyone over to come eat soup with me whenever you like!)
10. We can finally get a queen size bed because our old bed broke! It's about 60 years old... it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Skinny Cereal Boxes

Q: What is wrong with this picture?

A: The Reese's Puffs came in the smallest cereal box ever. The Raisin Bran should clearly take a back seat to Reese's Puffs.

Biggest case of breakfast injustice ever.

nasty things

Today was clean-out-the-fridge day and it was extremely nasty. I really need to clean it out more. Please read with caution, and if you do, please don't think any less of me. Here are some of the nasty items I found (don't worry I didn't include pictures):

-eggs from when we first moved in (which was in April) I had to strategically cushion these in the garbage can so that they wouldn't crack and stink up the place.
-pasta salad from August
-pasta salad from June (this looked very different from the pasta salad from August)
-petrified blackberries
-chocolate fondue from April, which actually stayed good surprisingly (don't worry I still threw it out)
-pasta sauce from August
-cheese. moldy. cheese.

After I threw these away, I bleached the fridge, and it has never looked better. It also has no food in it.

From my ethics book for school...

"Fear is a powerful barrier to doing what you think is right. We think of ourselves as little fish swimming out there in the shark tank. But the world is not an aquarium, and you are not just a little fish. You're a growing fish swimming in the open ocean, and your actions will reconfigure your world. Ask yourself what kind of a world you want to swim in and make it so.

"Cultivate a sense of pride in doing what you think is right."

- from A Practical Guide to Ethics

This is why I love my major. How will you cultivate and reconfigure the world?

a new leaf

Oh dear. I am so sorry I have neglected this blog so much! I am making a goal right here and right now, to "turn over a new leaf" in the blogging world.

From now on, I will blog at least twice a week. Yes. You heard me right. TWO whole times during the week!

However, I need some suggestions. Sometimes I just have NO clue what to write about! What I think is cool and interesting in my life, may not be as cool and interesting to someone else, or I just can't think of anything. So, you tell me, what do you want to hear about?

There will be a bit of construction going on with this blog too. I figure if I am starting a new blogging stage in my life, I need to change things up a bit. But I am having trouble getting the template I want. Why are blogs so confusing?

Well, I am going to take a lovely sunday nap. Have a lovely sunday!
