Birthday Week #2

My Birthday is this Friday... so naturally, since I honored Steven, I think I should take some time to honor myself.

So to keep with tradition (or at least, I am making it a tradition now), these are some of the things you may not know about me:

As you can see in this picture, I love food. I REALLY, really love food. Except, that's not really a secret.

I have not one, but TWO minors.

Those minors are Music and Psychology.

I sleep with a glass of water by my bed every night.

I did A LOT of acting and performing in high school... and I kind of miss it (I was the "Wall" in a Midsummer Night's Dream, good times.)

I was a pregnant woman in the musical Footloose.

According to Steven, I scream/yell/moan in my sleep when I have a scary dream.

I enjoy teaching (adults, not children) and I am working towards becoming a Certified Family Life Educator

I did an internship this semester through NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and LOVED it!

I am kind of obsessed with all-things British

My name, Annie Elizabeth, comes from a line of many ancestors on my Grandpa Dan's side of the family.

I like to plan parties. I think it would be so fun to be a wedding planner.

I love the musical Oklahoma, the one with Hugh Jackman. It's adorable!

I really, really like Yoga and Pilates.

I really love the TV show Chuck and I have a slight crush on Zachary Levi. Don't worry, Steven knows and approves.

Sometimes I wish I had red hair.

My favorite books include but are not limited to: Harry Potter, The Goose Girl, Night, Lord of the Rings, and Book of a Thousand Days.

Fall is my favorite season

I used to work at Curves

Now, a look into my deep, dark past: Once, I snuck into a ummm.. well, a haunted place. Late at night. With my neighbor friend, Daren. It was a popular haunted place by where I grew up. He fell into a well and I cut my arm and leg trying to get over the fence. Needless to say, I learned my lesson about trespassing after this experience.

My dream vacation would be England for like... a whole year. Or my whole life.

My parents adopted a dog named "Annie" two years ago. At first I was ok with it, but now I never know if they are talking to me or the dog...usually it's the dog.

So, there you have it. I hope you enjoyed my list and that you feel "enriched" with knowledge about my life. I am enjoying my Birthday week so far and I am excited for Friday (which also happens to be Earth Day)!

Birthday Week Post 3: Soup

One more thing you don't know about Steven... he doesn't like soup. And... I love soup. I make it a lot.  Butternut Squash Soup, Broccoli Cheese, Chili, Thai Chicken (just tried this one... so yummy), whatever kind of soup, I love it and it's a common dinner item around here.

And even though Steven doesn't like soup... he still eats the soup I make. And tells me it tastes good. What a guy.

I thought of this because I made soup tonight, and Steven swallowed every bite. I should make things he likes better on his Birthday week.

Tomorrow is the big day!! And what are we doing??

Naturally, we are going to Tucanos. And I am looking sooo forward to that Brazilian Lemonade and those cheese rolls.

Thanks for reading my birthday week posts (especially if you read the long one from yesterday) and don't forget to wish him a Happy Birthday! I will post pictures from the celebration.

Birthday Week Post 2: Poor Steven/Steve

I have two stories for you tonight. First: as some of you know... Steven/Steve had a bit of an accident last week. For those of you who don't know, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Steven sprained his ankle (we actually thought it might be broken) last week while playing basketball (always knew church basketball was dangerous). It was sad and tragic.

This is after it happened. We used frozen corn for ice, and ribbon to tie it to his foot, since we didn't have the ace bandage wrap thing. Steven is quite resourceful when he is in pain.

This is just a small glimpse of his injured foot. Sorry to those of you who don't like to look at feet. The doctor gave him crutches and a brace and an order to take lots of Ibprofen and ice it lots.

On a happier note, we are just glad this happened a week BEFORE his Birthday, and not on it. That would be truly tragic.
Well, that was my little shpeel about the ankle. Now I want to tell you about how I ALMOST bought Steven the best present ever. Seriously, the best present ever.

The other day, while looking for presents for the Birthday guy, I thought about looking for an old keyboard or something so that we could continue working on our piano skills (or in his case, glorious piano and organ skills). So, I started browsing KSL and found not a keyboard, but a REAL PIANO for $100. Ohhhh my word! I started freaking out, emailed the lady (because she only wanted emails) about the price and the condition it was in. THEN I called my mom to see how I could get a piano down here and such. THEN I told Steven's sister about it and asked for her advice with much excitement... THEN I went to look for it again... and someone had already bought the piano. :(

Big sad face. :(

Then Steven came home and I told him about how I almost got him the best present ever.

And then we were sad

Poor Steven/Steve.

But, it's ok. Because we will just buy some other piano some day. And it will be an awesome piano. And we will love it, even if we have to spend lots of money on it.

And besides, it's Birthday week and there will be lots of fun things to come! So, there will be much smiling and much celebrating to come.

PS - NEW DATE for my mom's Easter Boutique: April 21st. You are ALL invited, please come! You won't regret it!

Birthday Week

This week on the blog, all posts will be about the guy standing next to me in this picture:

As most of you have probably guessed, this week is all about Steven/Steve because he turns 26 on Friday!

In his honor, I will be posting something about him everyday (or mostly everyday) this week, including our celebrations. We already had one celebration but since I don't have pictures yet, I will talk about that later.

First, I want to make a list of things you may or may not know about Steven:

- He has been into weight lifting lately

- He cleans the apartment more than I do

- He likes to read his scriptures in Portuguese (served a mission in Brazil)

- Steven can be quite the prankster/tease in the workplace (or so I hear, right Kiesha?)

- He reads quite a bit. Especially historical type books.

- He's been especially nice and has watched Pride and Prejudice with me- the 6 hour version with Colin Firth, and kind of enjoyed it I believe

- This probably goes along with the apartment cleaning one: I haven't cleaned the shower ONCE since we have been married, he always does it. I am one lucky gal.

- Steven wants to name a child after one of his favorite video game characters (Jon Marston or something)... yeah. not happening.
- His favorite places to eat are Cafe Rio and Tucanos

- He is named after his dad's best friend growing up

- His middle name is Alden and it was his Grandpa's middle name

- One of his dream jobs would involve designing video games, or testing them. Who wouldn't like that, really?

- He really, really likes chocolate. I guess I have worn off on him.

- He's mad that we have gone to Yellowstone 3 times and he still hasn't seen a bear (I've seen a cub while hiking in semi-back country before. Knowing the mama must be around somewhere, that was enough for me).

- He plays "expert" on guitar hero

- One of his dream cars is a Subaru Outback (we go for reliable)

- He plays the piano and organ gloriously well

- He wishes we lived in Australia - ok not really, but it is somewhere he'd like to visit sometime.

And that concludes my list for now. Keep watching the blog, I will be posting more Steven related things.
